呂洞賓

呂洞賓是八仙中影響最大，傳說故事最多的一位。道教全真道奉其為北五祖之一，通稱「呂祖」。元代封其為純陽孚佑帝君。呂洞賓在八仙中雖只排在第六位，但其名氣遠在其他七仙之上，專祀呂洞賓的呂祖廟、呂祖祠，遍佈全國各地，在許多道觀中亦多設昌祖殿或呂祖閣。另外七仙則無此殊榮。

有記載稱，呂洞賓名呂岩。據《宋史‧陳摶傳》載，呂岩為「關西逸人，有劍術，年百餘歲。步履輕捷，頃刻數百里，數來摶齋中。」看來，這位大名鼎鼎的純陽祖師的原型，應是一位會劍術、會法術，雲遊四方、壽命很長的高道。後人不斷加以附會，為其編織了豐富多彩的眾多仙話，終而成為諸仙中之卓著者。

The Chief leader
Lü Dongbin was an 8th-century scholar, who learned the secrets of Taoism from Zhuang Lin Quan. Dressed as a scholar, he is honoured as such. His attribute, the sword, which can subdue the evil, allowed him to travel the earth slaying dragons and fighting evil.
He is represented with a sword on his back and a fly brush in his hand.
Lü Dongbin is also the patron deity of barbers.
